Blood found on Zainab Nielsen matches her Danish husband’s blood (details)

Forensic analysis carried out has shown that the blood found on the nightwear worn by singer Zainab Nielsen and daughter Petra matched her Danish husband’s Peter Nielsen.

This is according to a forensic analyst Richard Somiari who testified at the Lagos State High Court in Igbosere.

53-year-old Peter Nielsen was arrested in 2018 following the death of his wife and daughter at their Ocean Parade residence, Banana Island, Lagos.

Speaking at the resumed hearing, the forensic analyst said:

“We identified male profiles on the nightgown in multiple locations. We found that these profiles were in multiple locations on the gown, including the neck region and the upper chest area. That was an indication of a struggle. The patterns were unique in the sense that they contained profiles that we could match to a single contributor. We contacted the police and requested for Peter’s samples that they had so that we could compare and we were able to match the defendant’s DNA profiles with the male DNA from the locations we found the male DNA profiles on Zainab’s nightgown and Petra’s pyjamas.”

He added that there was no way they could find another person whose blood will match the one way Peter Nielsen’s blood matched the material found on the deceased. The case was adjourned till July 3 by Justice Okikiolu-Ighile adjourned.
