Fashion has always been like that girl who makes you want to change everything, including your style. In this regard, the fashion season has instilled in us the desire to dress up for all occasions in magnificent manner. With fashion weeks and award events back-to-back last week, there were plenty of occasions for Black elegant ladies to show off the plethora of glamorous designer clothes on their wish list. From Paris Fashion Week to the Billboard Women In Music Awards, these ladies danced to the beat of the music and dressed to the occasion, as they should.
The appearances
Maison Valentino held a “rose-colored monochromatic themed show” at Paris Fashion Week, where the Valentino Pink PP collection was revealed, and the pieces, as always, made a strong statement. During the performance, Zendaya looked stunning in a monochromatic Valentino floral-detailed suit set. We always rely on the star to add the much-anticipated flair to any look.
Still in the United States, Meagan Good wore a smoldering black Cleopatra velvet outfit by Bronx and Bronco at the African American Film Critics Association Awards (AAFCA). Good accessorized the look with locs coiled intentionally into an updo, with random jewelry inserted into the tresses for extra flair.
Boity Thulo, a media darling in South Africa, put her own take on a black and white suit without being cliché, a stylistic tweak that demands some finesse. Thulo’s attire, designed by South African fashion label House Of Zee, was a visual treat. It had white and black feathers strategically arranged around the belly, as well as a frill-like fabric flowing freely, which made the number a masterpiece.
The looks posted by Black celebrities and top fashion influencers last week were sleek, edgy, and beautiful, and it’s safe to say that we’re living vicariously via them as usual.
