In a recent interview with Tribune, Nollywood luminary Aisha Lawal boldly declared that Yoruba actors and filmmakers can rightfully claim ownership of the Nollywood landscape. According to Lawal, this assertion is grounded in the fact that they were the pioneering forces that set the wheels of the industry in motion.
As she passionately expressed her perspective, Lawal emphasized, “We own the industry. Go back to research. The industry belongs to the Yoruba people. If you go back to research, you will hear from people like Hubert Ogunde and Ade Love. I don’t want to go into details. But, if you go and research very well, you will discover that Yorubas own this industry, we started this industry. We messed up at some point, but we are not playing catch-up. We are there already. Now, everybody wants to shoot a Yoruba movie.”
Aisha Lawal express gratitude as Kunle Afolayan lavishly celebrates her birthday
In June, Kemi Filani reported that Nollywood actress Aisha Lawal had expressed her gratitude to Anikulapo movie producer, Kunle Afolayan, for his lavish celebration of her birthday on a movie set.
Aisha Lawal had shared a video on her Instagram page back then, where she showed her appreciation to Kunle Afolayan. She thanked him for organizing a dinner party on her behalf at the location of the Anikulapo movie.
The video that was shared captured the heartwarming moment from that time when Kunle Afolayan showered her with cash. This touching gesture took place in the presence of her colleagues, including Adedimeji Lateef, Sola Sobowale, Eyiyemi Afolayan, and others.
