Nollywood actor and filmmaker, Kunle Afolayan has penned an appreciation post to the Federal Government for conferring him with a National Honor.
Kemi Filani reported on Sunday that the full list of the 2023 National Honours recipients made rounds on the internet.
The Filmmaker was among the 50 people conferred with Officer of the Order of Nigeria (OON).
Taking to his Instagram page, Kunle Afolayan expressed gratitude to the government for the honor.
According to him, he woke up this morning to a double celebration as his movie Anikulapo Rise of the Spectre started filming yesterday and now he has a national award.
“Hello good morning, it’s a double celebration.
So yesterday we finally rolled the camera on Anikulapo Rise of the Spectre series and I started getting calls from people congratulating me and I didn’t know what it was until they sent me the list of newly awarded recipients of the national award.
I want to say thank you to the Federal Government for honoring me with the OON merit award. I really appreciate it, I am a Nigerian and I believe so much in this country. God bless Nigeria”.
He captioned the post, “Thank you to Federal Republic of Nigeria for the honor. Ogbeni Adekunle Ayodeji Akande (OON)”.
Davido reacts as FG confers him a national honor award
Similarly, Famous Nigerian international singer David Adeleke, otherwise known as Davido, had also been conferred with a national honor award by the federal government of Nigeria.
The government conferred Davido Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON).
Sharing the news on his Instagram story, Davido showed the lists of others awarded the same honor as him, marking out his name.
The singer, who was appreciative of the honor, captioned the post with his name, “David Adeleke OON”, and the Nigerian flag.
His uncle, Ademola Adeleke, celebrated him for making the Adeleke family proud and also for being a good ambassador of Osun State.
He wrote, “Congratulations Davido on your conferment with Nigeria’s national honor award, Officer of the Order of Niger (OON). You have made the family proud and Osun as a state.”
