Relationship expert, Joro Olumofin, recently explained why some men are often labeled “mumus” or considered less intelligent for maintaining loyalty to one partner.
He revealed that in the Nigerian culture, cheating is see as a symbol of success and stamina among men.
During secondary school, Olumofin observes, getting multiple girlfriends earns a boy admiration as a “bad guy.” This trend also persists into university life, where a guy with four girlfriends may receive commendations as a “correct guy.” Surprisingly, Olumofin reveals that some universities even go as far as presenting awards for the “ladies man of the year” to honor such individuals.
Even in marriage, Olumofin reveals that having multiple side chicks can lead to accolades like “stallion” from friends. He connects this mindset to deeply ingrained thinking patterns formed during childhood, which influences a man’s decisions when it comes to commitment.
“As a married man if he has 3 side chiks. His friends will call him ” Idan, Stallion, Rambo “
This behavior has been imprinted in his cognition throughout his childhood.
When it’s time to commit to 1 woman it becomes difficult.
Men who are loyal to 1 woman are referred to as Mumu in Nigeria.”
Also recall that Joro in August 2023, specifically targeting Nigerian women who engage in begging on WhatsApp. Joro urged them to abandon this behavior, deeming it highly unattractive, particularly within the context of a relationship. He argued that begging implies a partner’s inability to provide, and the situation worsens when a woman seeks financial assistance from multiple men simultaneously.
Also back in October 2022, he spotlighted common lies that Nigerian women might fall for, such as the deceptive expression from married men proclaiming, “I wish I met you before my wife.” He labeled this as a lie and advised women to cut ties with individuals resorting to such dishonest tactics.
