Popular Nigerian Chef, Chef Tolani recently shared her pregnancy story and revealed how taking Zobo had almost cost her her life.
She had revealed that during her pregnancy journey, she had a deep cravings for Zobo as is characteristic of most Nigerian women. She had also revealed that after taking one bottle of Zobo, she had started to feel tummy cramps. The cramps got so intense that she ended up at the hospital.
Thankfully to her nurses and doctors who sprung into action immediately, she was able to get her self and feel better soon after. She expressed that it wasn’t until later that she made the correlation between drinking zobo and her tummy cramps.
After she shared her story, so many women also came out to share their sad and painful stories of drinking zobo. Some revealed how they had lost their pregnancy at different stages after consuming zobo. A few others spoke on the fact that they also drank zobo during their pregnancy and where still able to give birth just fine.
She went on to reveal on her Instagram page that main culprit might not be the bibsicus flower used in making the zobo rather than other Ingredients like cloves used in making it. Cloves is known for its strong healing properties especially for the reproductive organs of a woman but perhaps it can be too strong for pregnant women.
Diary of a kitchenlover also known as Chef Tolani also shared dms she had received from women sharing her story. In one of the dms, a follower jar revealed how she had lost her 5 month pregnancy after taking zobo and how it’s been 5 years since then and she was yet to covegive again.
Another woman shared her sad story of how she had taken zobo and watermelon during her 9 month pregnancy and unfortunately her baby had not been able to make it. Another follower also shared how she had experienced mild cramping after taking zobo but fortunately for her she had not taken much and they had stopped soon after.
Recall that two weeks ago, Chef Tolani had taken to social media to announce the birth of her daughter after years of trying.
