Media personality and actor, Denrele Edun is counting down to celebrating 3 decades in the Entertainment Industry, which isn’t a small feat.
Ahead of the huge milestone which is he set to mark in May, Denrele Edun recalled how a famous DJ’s wife told his favorite designer not to style him. To make it worse, she told him not to allow Denrele touch her kids as she believed he had HIV. She noted how the media personality at that time was skinny and she assumed he had a disease. Denrele who heard her statement just listened and smiled
Penning a note to himself, he noted how he has been labeled several names, from Anorexic to Malnourished and even HIV positive and now he is adding weight and it’s so beautiful for him to see.
“Denrele, you’re a SAFE SPACE.
A place that’s practically non-existent in this cràzy industry of ours, but you represent that and MORE”, @kachioffiah said to me whilst on the Arise 360 Live Show yesterday.

A day back, Denrele had recounted his early struggles and rise to fame, revealing that he was once a cage dancer. According to him, he danced for the African Shrine and did everything to hustle, while still being in the University.
Reflecting on his struggles, he stated that May 21 would be his 3rd decade in the Entertainment Industry as he noted how he started his career professionally in 1994.
Last month, while celebrating Mother’s Day, Denrele recounted his mother’s sacrifices for him and his siblings, revealing that his mother worked several jobs in Lagos to make life worth living for them.
He recounted how in 1989/1990, she had to sell her Indian Saris and gold ornaments to raise money for his Common Entrance, which left her distraught. He further disclosed that moving to their family house was hell on earth for them as he recalled the bitter experiences he faced.
