Justic Mary Odili has been in the news since the weekend after the reports revealed that security officials raided her house in Abuja on Friday.
A report via PUNCH revealed that a complement of police officers and Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC operatives stormed the Justice’s Maitama residence on Friday, October 29th.
The raid was said to be carried on the purported tip by a whistleblower, Aliyu Umar, who alleged to have observed suspicious activities at Justice Mary Odili’s residence.
Since the raid, well-meaning Nigerians, the police, as well as political bodies have taken to various mediums to react as many called for an investigation into the raid.

Justice Mary Odili’s biography
Her maiden name is Mary Ukaego Nzenwa and she was born on the 12th of May 1952 in Amudi Obizi, Ezinihitte-Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State, to Eze Bernard Nzenwa her father and Ugoeze Benadette Nzenwa, her mother.
Mary Odili is the second child of her parents, she is a Nigerian by birth and celebrated her 69th birthday in 2021.
Justice Mary Odili was at a number of primary schools and they are St Benedict’s Primary School, Obizi Ezinitte, St Michael’s Primary School, Umuahia, St Agnes Primary School, Maryland and Our Lady of Apostles Primary School, Yaba.
For her secondary school education, she attended Our Lady of Apostles Secondary School in Yaba, Lagos state, briefly and had to relocate with her parents to the Southeast after the outbreak of the civil war in 1967.
After relocating to the South East, Mary Odili continued her secondary education at the Owerri Girls High School; she also attended Mbaise Girls Secondary School and the Queen of the Rosary College in Onitsha. She later proceeded to the University of Nigeria, Enugu, in 1972, where she gained admission to study law.
Justice Mary Odili graduated from UNN in 1976 and was the best student in the department of commercial and property law. In 1977, she went to the Nigerian law school, where she bagged her B.L certificate.
Career
Justice Mary Odili was made a Magistrate grade III in November 1978. She became a High Court Judge in 1992 while her husband Peter Odili was serving as the Deputy Governor of Rivers State.
When her husband became the governor in 1999, Justice Mary Odili became the First Lady of Rivers State until 29 May 2007.
Personal Life
Mary Odili is married to Peter Odili; they exchanged marital vows in 1979 and had their daughter, Adaeze. The report revealed that Mary and Pete,r Odili met on campus during their days at UNN. Their union is blessed with a total of four children; much is, however, unknown about them.
