John R. Cash was born in Kingsland on February 26, 1932, in Arkansas, to his parents, Carrie Cloveree and Ray Cash. He was raised in Dyess, Arkansas.

In 1954, Johnny Cash got married to Vivian Liberto. The couple had four daughters: Tara, Cindy, Kathy, and Rosanne. After getting divorced from Vivian, he married June Carter in 1968. Their son John Carter Cash was born in 1970.
In 1950, he was enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He was assigned to Landsberg, Germany. He was honourably discharged in 1954 as a staff sergeant. Following that, he returned to Texas.
He was a devout Christian and supported the SOS Children’s Villages. On 12th September 2003, he died after having diabetic complications. Cash died four months after the death of his wife.
