Nollywood veteran actor, comedian and producer, Chiwetalu Agu has been trending on and off social media following his arrest on Thursday.
Recall that a video had gone viral on social media which showed the Nigerian army arresting the veteran actor who was draped in the Biafran flag at Upper Iweka Road, Onitsha, in Anambra state earlier on Thursday.
The Nigerian army, in a recent statement, has now confirmed the arrest of the veteran Nigerian actor for allegedly inciting the public and soliciting support for the indigenous peoples of Biafra, IPOB, in Onitsha, Anambra state.
According to the military, Chiwetalu Agu’s action negates the peace efforts in the region considering the security situation in the state.
The Nigerian Army, however, stressed that the veteran actor was not manhandled but was taken into custody for investigation.
Since the report, Nigerian have taken to various platforms to react to the arrest of veteran actor Chiwetalu Agu.

Chiwetalu Agu’s Biography
Chiwetalu Agu was born on the 27th of October 1956 in Amokwe, Udi Town, Enugu state; there are no details of who his parents or siblings are.
The veteran actor is a Nigerian by birth and will turn 65 in October 2021.
Education
Chiwetalu Agu went to Municipal Council School Ogui Town, Saint Luke’s Primary School Ogui Urban Area in Enugu, Nigeria. After his first school leaving certificate, he gained admission to the College of Immaculate Conception (CIC) Enugu, where he had his SSCE. He would later move to Miinchen College Enugu, where he bagged a diploma in Dramatics Arts.
Career
Chiwetalu Agu began acting in 1981 as he featured on NTA drama Things Fall Apart, where he played the role of Anikwu. Since then, he has gone on to act in more than 250 movies and series.
The veteran actor is known for his use of slangs and funny phrase. Chiwetalu Agu was nominated for the best actor in a supporting role at the African Movie Academy Awards in 2008, he however won the Best Actor of the Year Awards at the Africa Movie Academy Awards in 2012.
