After his college career at Georgetown University, which lasted for two seasons, Iverson was drafted in the 1996 NBA draft by the Philadelphia 76ers, here, he helped the team improve as it had 18-64 records and by the time he left, he had taken Philadelphia 76ers to the 2001 NBA finals where they were defeated by Los Angeles Lakers 4-1. He left the team in 2006 with a record of the highest scoring average in Philadelphia 76ers history, 28.1.
In the 2007 NBA draft, Allen Iverson was drafted by Denver Nuggets, where he stayed for two years before joining Detroit Pistons, where he stayed for one year. In 2009 he signed a one-year contract with Memphis Grizzlies before returning to the Philadelphia 76ers from 2009 to 2010.
After playing for Besiktas from 2010-2011, he retired from basketball in 2013.
