Just like every other top citizen in the country, Former Head of State and President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo has spoken on the death of Ogun State senator, Buruji Kashamu but what he said has drawn mixed reactions.
In his condolence message, Obasanjo simply said that Buruji Kashamu used maneuver of law to beat justice over the crime he committed and now couldn’t escape death.
“Senator Esho Jinadu (Buruji Kashmu) in his lifetime used the maneuver of law and politics to escape from facing justice on alleged criminal offence in Nigeria and outside Nigeria,” the former president said.
“But no legal, political, cultural, social or even medical maneuver could stop the cold hands of death when the Creator of all of us decides that the time is up. May Allah forgive his sin and accept his soul into Aljanah, and may God grant his family and friends fortitude to bear the irreparable loss,” he wrote.
A copy of the condolence letter was made available to journalists by Mr Obasanjo’s special assistant on media, Kehinde Akinyemi.
This has however caused mixed reactions amidst Nigerians on Twitter who claim that even with the death Obasanjo couldn’t forgive him.
Some have even gone as far to state that He who is still alive shouldn’t mock or speak ill of the dead.
Well, on the other hand, Obasanjo was supported with the statement he made.
