Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state and his colleague Senator Bala Mohammed, Governor of Bauchi State, have been reconciled by Governor Nyesom Wike of River state and Adamawa state Governor Ahmed Fintri following their recent war of words on Fulani’s herdsmen possessing AK-47.

Dispute ensue between Ortom and Bala following a disagreeing opinion on Fulani herdsmen possessing AK-47 as a means of protection.

Bala gave his support to the motion, insisting that it was necessary for protection against killers and cattle rustlers disturbing the herdsmen. Reacting to the comment, Ortom, while addressing newsmen at Makurdi, slammed Bala for supporting killer herdsmen to carry arms.

Bala, while speaking to newsmen on the incident, said: “We don’t mean to divide the country, to divide our people. We are still friends and brothers, and that we will move forward because most of those issues are fully resolved.

“I want to seize this opportunity to tell Nigerians that whatever misconception that is there, that my brother Ortom and I are having a problem or anybody in Nigeria is not true.”

Bala also added that what happened between him and Ortom was “just an explanation that emanated from a larger Governors’ Forum that we spoke on the security of the nation and we talked of the failure of security infrastructure which everybody knows is under the purview of the federal government.”
