Tottenham have agreed a fee of around £25 million for Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma, who will have his medical on Thursday.
After goalkeeper Fraser Forster and Ivan Perisic joined earlier this month, the 25-year-old has only one year left on his Brighton contract and is set to become Tottenham’s third summer signing.
Arsenal, Aston Villa, and Everton were among the other clubs interested in signing the Mali international this summer, following Brighton’s rejection of an Aston Villa bid for Bissouma in the January transfer window.
Tottenham have been watching Bissouma since he played for Lille, and he was on their list of targets to replace Moussa Dembele in 2018.
Spurs eventually signed Tanguy Ndombele in a club-record deal from Lyon, while Bissouma joined Brighton for around £15 million and has shone in 124 appearances for the Seagulls.
Tottenham manager Antonio Conte was particularly impressed by Bissouma’s performances against Spurs last season.
Tottenham are also in advanced talks with Middlesbrough to sign Djed Spence.
