Liverpool captain, Virgil van Dijk, has insisted has disagreed with his Netherlands national team coach, Louis van Gaal, over his recent claim about Lionel Messi.
The defender said him as well as his teammates do not agree with van Gaal.
The former Manchester United boss had recently said that the 2022 World Cup in Qatar was rigged to help Messi finally win the trophy.
Argentina played Holland in the quarter-final clash which ended in a penalty shoot-out.
Van Gaal and Messi clashed in the game.
The Dutchman was recently asked about the tournament and he told the Dutch media it was a “preconceived game” and forces conspired to ensure Messi “should become world champion”.
Van Dijk was asked for his stance on the matter on Tuesday morning and he said, “Van Gaal’s words about Messi? He can say what he wants, it’s his opinion, but I do not agree with him and I don’t share the same opinion.”
