The captain of the Crocodiles of Lesotho, Basia Makepe, has shared his thoughts on the reason behind their draw with Nigeria.
Lesotho was able to hold Nigeria to a 1-1 draw at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo on Thursday.
It was their first game of the 2026 World Cup qualifying series which everyone expected the African giants to win.
However, it came out that Jose Peseiro’s side had to fight to earn a draw.
Speaking after the game, the captain and goalkeeper, told reporters, “We came here knowing that Nigeria was going to bring the game to us. So we gave them a little bit of respect knowing that Nigeria is the best team in Africa,” the captain said.
“Yes, I expected us to lead them first because if they score first, they are going to come more.
“So we said we needed to calm and counter them whenever they lose the ball so that we can score.”
