British player Cameron Norrie struggled to build on a strong start as Novak Djokovic rallied to advance to the Wimbledon men’s singles final.
The 26-year-old Norrie was striving to become just the fourth British player to make it to the All England Club final during the Open era.
He did, however, lose to the top seed 2-6 6-3 6-2 6-4 after taking the first set.
In the championship match on Sunday, Serbia’s Novak Djokovic will compete against Australia’s Nick Kyrgios for a fourth straight victory and his seventh overall.
A 21st Grand Slam men’s title for the 35-year-old would put him one behind Rafael Nadal’s all-time record.
Nadal, 36, of Spain, was scheduled to play Kyrgios in the second semi-final on Friday but pulled out of the match on Thursday due to an abdominal injury.
After crushing the hopes of Norrie and a nation, Djokovic now has the chance to close the gap on his longtime rival once more.
Nineteenth-seeded Norrie received partisan support on Centre Court after becoming the first British player to do so since Johanna Konta in the Wimbledon singles semifinals in 2017.
