Tottenham manager, Jose Mourinho has revealed the reason behind the anger displayed by Dele Alli after he was substituted at last night’s UEFA Champions League game.
Tottenham lost 1-0 after hosting Bundesliga side, RB Leipzig, in a round of 16 first-leg in London.
Dele Alli who was replaced by Erik Lamela replaced in the 64th minute was seen throwing a water bottle to the ground and looking upset on the bench.
According to Mourinho, the England international wasn’t angry at him but at his performance.
“I think Delle Alli was angry with his performance after he was substituted and not with me,” Mourinho told BT Sport.
“I believe Alli understood why I substituted him and brought in Lamela.
“Our team performance improved after that.”
He added: “Lamela can’t play full 90 minutes, so just like how Delle Alli came on against Southampton in the last 20 minutes to change the game, the same tactics I applied tonight.”
