Wesley Fofana: Chelsea set to make move for Leicester City defender

Wesley Fofana

Wesley Fofana, a highly rated defender for Leicester City, is currently the target of interest from Chelsea, which is preparing an offer to make him an offer.

Following the departures of Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen, and Kurt Zouma in the last year, Thomas Tuchel has expressed a desire to bring in three new central defenders this summer.

Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli has been signed, but they have fallen short in other pursuits, having failed to sign Matthijs De Ligt and Nathan Ake, and their bid for Jules Kounde has also stalled.

With that in mind, the club have begun to look elsewhere for a new centre-back signing, and according to 90min, Pau Torres of Villarreal, Milan Skriniar of Inter, Josko Gvardiol of RB Leipzig, and Dayot Upamecano and Benjamin Pavard of Bayern Munich were all on their radar.

Chelsea have also been looking at Premier League options, and the talented Fofana has caught their attention, with the club’s co-owner interim sporting director Todd Boehly ready to open talks.

Fonana missed the majority of last season due to a broken leg sustained during a pre-season friendly against Villarreal. However, after returning from injury, the 21-year-old impressed, making 12 appearances across all competitions.
