Waldrum unveils 21-man Super Falcons’ squad for 2023 Women’s World Cup

The head coach of the Super Falcons, Randy Waldrum, has named 23 players his final squad ahead of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup to be co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand.

Regulars like captain Onome Ebi, Barcelona Femeni forward Asisat Oshoala and dainty attacking midfielder Rasheedat Ajibade make the cut.

Former Falconets defenders, Rofiat Imuran and Tosin Demehin as well as midfileder Deborah Abiodun were also included in the squad by the American.

There is also place in the squad for Leicester City centre-back Ashleigh Plumptre, experienced forward Desire Oparanozie and Francisca Ordega.

The nine-time African champions are drawn in Group B with Australia, Canada and Republic of Ireland.

The Falcons will face Canada in their opening fixture on July 21 with games against Australia and Republic of Ireland to follow.

The West Africans made it to the Round of 16 four years ago in France where they were eliminated by Germany.

Forwards: Asisat Oshoala, Desire Oparanozie, Rasheedat Ajibade, Ifeoma Onumonu, Ijeoma Okoronkwo, Uchenna Kanu, Gift Monday
