Nigeria’s U-17 boys were at their best in Cape Coast, Ghana, as they defeated Togo 3-1.
The Eaglets took a 2-0 lead in the first half thanks to goals from Kevwe Iyede and Precious Williams.
Williams scored his second of the tournament, having grabbed a goal when Nigeria defeated Ghana 4-2 in the first game of the group.
Light Eke, one of the tournament’s best players, came on in the second half and scored the Eaglets’ third goal, delighting Nigerians. His goal came after Togo had halved the deficit with a cleanly-struck free kick.
After finishing first in their group with six points, scoring seven goals and conceding three, the Eaglets have advanced to the semifinals.
The tournament’s top two teams will qualify for the U-17 AFCON, which will be held in Algeria in early 2023.
Nduka Ugbade, a former Super Eagles player and the team’s coach, has stated that they are in Ghana to win the tournament.
Emmanuel Michael, a product of Moses Simon’s academy, won his second player of the match award and has been described as a special player.
