Roma defeated Feyenoord 1-0 in the final of the inaugural UEFA Europa Conference League on Wednesday night at the Air Albania Stadium in Tirana.
Despite Feyenoord’s defeat last night against Jose Mourinho’s side, Cyriel Dessers was the first-ever top scorer in the UEFA Europa Conference League this season.
In Wednesday’s final, the Super Eagles star was held scoreless as the Dutch club lost to Roma in Albania.
Despite this, Dessers finished as the top scorer with ten goals, ahead of Tammy Abraham, who had nine.
Dessers had 21 goals and six assists in 46 games across all competitions this season.
The 27-year-old would have become the first Nigerian to win the Conference League title if Feyenoord won.
Meanwhile, Jose Mourinho became the first manager to win European trophies with four different clubs after leading Roma to victory in the Europa Conference League against Feyenoord.
The Italians defeated Leicester in the semi-finals, winning 2-1 on aggregate thanks to Tammy Abraham’s second-leg winner.
