Real Madrid confirmed that Benzema injured his hamstring against Celtic and will be out for at least three weeks.
According to Real Madrid, Karim Benzema will be sidelined for at least three weeks after hurting his hamstring on Tuesday.
Benzema sustained a knock in the first half of Real Madrid’s Champions League defence against Celtic that he could not recover from. A few minutes later, Eden Hazard replaced the leading scorer from the previous campaign, and Benzema immediately walked toward the exit.
Real Madrid confirmed in a statement earlier today that “he has been diagnosed with an injury to the semitendinosus muscle and an overload on the quadriceps, both in the right thigh.” In other words, it indicates that the Frenchman hurt his hamstring.
Given the seriousness of those injuries, it is impossible to predict when he might be able to return. He is expected to miss at least three weeks of action, though.
The European and Spanish champions will almost certainly be without their talisman for the final three games before the start of the international break. He will aim to return for Osasuna’s visit at the beginning of October, depending on the extent of his injury.
