Karim Benzema’s hattrick sealed Real Madrid’s victory over Premier League giants, Chelsea in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final clash at Stamford Bridge, on Wednesday.
The Frenchman opened scoring for the visitors in the 21st minute. He added another goal three minute later to make it 0-2.
Kai Havertz reduced the deficit for the blues after scoring a brilliant goal in the 40th minute.
But Benzema completed his hattrick just six minute after Havertz’s goal to extend Madrid’s lead.
The second-half of the encounter didn’t produced any goal with Carlo Ancelotti’s men playing defensively to deny Chelsea of equalizing.
Real Madrid will now host Chelsea in the second leg tie on 12 April, 2022.
