Super Eagles winger, Samuel Chukwueze was in action as his club Villarreal fell to a 2-0 defeat at Anfield on Wednesday in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League semi-final tie against Liverpool.
The Yellows were able to hold Liverpool to a first-half draw, thanks to coach Unai Emery’s trademark disciplined defending. But a two-goal second-half saw dominant Liverpool cruised to victory.
Villarreal left-back, Pervis Estupiñán handed the hosts the lead after scoring a own goal in the 53rd just as Jordan Henderson’s cross from the right deflected off him.
Moments later, Sadio Mane increased the Reds’ lead to two goals after scoring a brilliant goal up from Torres’ pass.
The Jürgen Klopp’s side are now one leg into the final of the European competition, keeping their quadruple hope alive.
Liverpool will travel to Spain for the return leg on Tuesday, 3rd May.
