Chelsea will send Wesley Fofana to the United States for a medical before completing his long-awaited move from Leicester.
After missing out on Jules Kounde, who moved to Barcelona from Sevilla, the Blues decided to sign Fofana after making several unsuccessful bids to the Foxes.
When Chelsea made an offer of £70 million plus £10 million in add-ons, Leicester initially rejected it because they valued Fofana at £80 million, the same price at which they sold Harry Maguire to Manchester United in 2019.
According to The Athletic, the Stamford Bridge hierarchy has insisted that Fofana travel to the United States for a medical before the deal is finalised. Although there aren’t believed to be any issues, Chelsea is looking for additional “peace of mind” in light of Fofana’s long-term injury from the previous season.
Following his transfer from Saint-Etienne to Leicester in 2020, the young Frenchman had an excellent debut season, but he missed seven months of the 2021/22 season due to a broken leg and ankle ligament damage.
