Tottenham Hotspur hopes to negotiate a new contract with Harry Kane in the first quarter of 2023 because they are confident he will commit his long-term future to the team.
As his quest for his first career trophy continues, Kane’s current contract expires in the summer of 2024, and he has been heavily linked with a move to Bayern Munich in the near future.
Since Spurs have lost their last two games, it is almost certain that they are not yet prepared to contend for the Premier League title.
Tottenham would like Kane to set an example by signing a new contract, according to sources who spoke to 90min, but this is unlikely to happen before the end of the year.
The team is unconcerned about the present circumstances, but would prefer the striker to sign a contract before the end of the current campaign due to growing interest from Bayern.
Spurs were reportedly growing frustrated with the Bavarian’s open courtship of Kane, and Bayern director Hasan Salihamidzic was reportedly questioned once more over the weekend about a potential transfer.
“Harry is a top player in the world but we’re not talking about other players who are signed to other clubs,” he said.
“We have an attack that can keep up or be the best in Europe. We have different players. We tried to put together the attack in such a way that the coach had a lot of options.”
With 11 goals in 16 games for Tottenham across all competitions, Kane has had a strong start to the 2022–23 campaign and is now just seven goals behind Jimmy Greaves for second place all-time at Spurs.
