Tottenham continue to target Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni, as a recent development in the Serie A club has fuelled the pursuit of the centre-back.
Bastoni and his Inter teammate Milan Skriniar were heavily linked to Spurs last summer, but they ultimately chose to sign Clement Lenglet on a loan from Barcelona.
There was, however, a nagging suspicion that Antonio Conte intended to bring up the prospect of bringing either player in 2023.
That is largely because there is no requirement to purchase Lenglet from Barcelona, which creates a potential opening in Tottenham’s back three.
In light of what happened on Sunday, Tottenham is currently once more being linked to Bastoni.
The 23-year-old was substituted off by Inter manager Simone Inzaghi after the first 30 minutes of the team’s 3-1 Serie A loss to Udinese.
In the 30th minute at the Dacia Arena, the Nerazzurri manager made a double substitution, taking Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Bastoni off the field.
Within the first 20 minutes, both players received warnings, but Bastoni remained unimpressed.
A report on Football Italia said: “As highlighted by DAZN, Bastoni, in particular, was furious after being taken off the pitch by Inzaghi, kicking a seat on the bench multiple times.
“Teammate Robin Gosens tried to calm him down by commenting on how many were watching his reaction.
“It was the 23-year-old Italian centre-back’s first booking of the Serie A season. And he clearly wasn’t impressed with Inzaghi’s cautious actions.”
