Harry Winks has officially left Tottenham to join Sampdoria of Serie A on a season-long loan, the club has confirmed.
Winks’ departure from Tottenham has been rumoured for some time. In fact, over the past few seasons, his influence at Spurs has diminished.
In the 2019–20 season, he made 31 Premier League appearances, which was his most in a single season. Since then, he has made a significantly smaller number of appearances.
The midfielder made 15 league appearances the following year. He entered the field in the Premier League 19 times last year.
For a while, it appeared that moving away might be in his best interests. The signing has been connected to a number of Premier League and other clubs.
Everton was considered as a destination, but the Toffees withdrew. The team with the best chance of acquiring Winks was now Sampdoria.
In fact, a transfer to the Serie A team has been finalised, as stated by Tottenham’s official website.
They claim that Winks has signed a season-long loan agreement with Sampdoria.
He becomes the sixth player this year that Spurs have permitted to go out on loan.
Along with Tanguy Ndombele, Joe Rodon, Giovani Lo Celso, Sergio Reguilon, and others, temporary leaves of absence have been granted. In addition, after signing Destiny Ugodie this summer, Tottenham loaned him back to Udinese.
