Manchester United have identified the replacement for Jadon Sancho in the person of Bayer Leverkusen’s winger Moussa Diaby.
Sancho is facing an uncertain future at Old Trafford having failed to live up to the billing since his £72m arrival from Dortmund in 2021.
The England international scored seven goals and provided three assists last season, in a campaign in which he was given significant time off by Erik ten Hag.
Sancho has emerged as one of a few dispensable first team players that could fetch the Red Devils big money on the open market.
The England winger could be heading to Manchester United rivals Tottenham, who are reportedly interested in signing and a sale could raise around £50m.
The Daily Mail reports that United could use that cash to bid for Diaby, who had a fine season in the Bundesliga last term.
Diaby scored 11 goals and provided 14 assists during a thrilling campaign under Xabi Alonso.
The Frenchman came through Paris Saint-Germain’s ranks but left the club for more playing time and the Ligue 1 giants are said to be interested in re-signing the playmaker.
But PSG have other problems, with Kylian Mbappe now likely to depart after Lionel Messi’s exit.
