A verbal deal between Manchester United and Ajax for the transfer of Antony is worth €100 million (£84 million).
All summer long, the Red Devils have been eager to bring Erik ten Hag and the 22-year-old back together, but have been unable to reach an agreement with the Eredivisie giants.
Despite the fact that Ajax has turned down three offers from United, the most recent being for over €90 million, however, it is understood that a breakthrough has been reached in negotiations between the two clubs, and Antony is now getting closer to moving to Old Trafford, where he has been longing to play.
In his pre-game interview, Alfred Schreuder stated that “nothing had changed” in the negotiations between the two clubs, implying that United had not made an offer to pay the club-record sum the Amsterdam-based giants have been asking for. Antony was left out of the Ajax squad to play Utrecht on Sunday.
Ten Hag has made it clear that signing Antony is his top priority, but United haven’t given up. Sources have told 90min that a verbal agreement has been reached with Ajax, however there are still some technicalities to work out. Before the summer transfer window ends, United now has just over a week to agree on terms.
