James Garner, a highly regarded midfielder, will cost Everton £15 million, per a deal reached with Manchester United.
The 21-year-old played a significant portion of the previous two seasons on loan in the Championship, assisting Watford and Nottingham Forest in earning promotions to the Premier League.
After a strong 2021–2022 season at Forest, it appeared that Garner would be allowed to prove himself at United. However, it is understood that the player is close to joining Everton.
Although personal terms still need to be worked out, the Toffees and the England youth international have agreed to a £15 million fee that includes add-ons. Although Southampton and Leicester City have both expressed interest, he is anticipated to sign with Goodison Park.
Garner, a native of Birkenhead, Merseyside, has played in just seven senior games for United after graduating from the team’s youth academy.
The summer signings of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen at Old Trafford have made it more difficult for him to make the first team, and Lisandro Martinez can also play in midfield.
However, his path to the starting lineup at Everton will also be difficult.
