According to Erik ten Hag, Cristiano Ronaldo won’t be leaving Manchester United in the final days of the transfer window.
Ronaldo asked to leave Old Trafford earlier this summer to play in the Champions League. Despite being heavily linked with clubs like Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Chelsea, all potential high-profile suitors decided against a transfer.
Ten Hag has confirmed that Ronaldo will remain at the club despite recent talks between Napoli and his former club Sporting CP.
“It is clear, of course. We need quality players. You need more to cover all the games to keep the consistency going. That’s what we strive for,” he said.
When asked about Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s future, Ten Hag responded, “This squad will play from September until January, at minimum, this season.”
With Marcus Rashford starting up top, the Red Devils have looked more like a cohesive attacking unit in their last two games. Ronaldo has only started one game for United so far this season, their 4-0 thrashing at Brentford.
For the first time since December of last year, United will attempt to win three straight Premier League games when it travels to Leicester City on Thursday.
