Villarreal have dropped Samuel Chukwueze from their squad to face Hannover in a pre-season friendly, with the player on the verge of joining AC Milan.
This was revealed by Fabrizio Romano.
Romano tweeted on Saturday: “Samuel Chukwueze not even called up for Villarreal friendly game vs Hannover.
“He’s on the verge of joining AC Milan as deal will be completed next week.”
The Rossoneri have already agreed personal terms with the Nigeria international, who is keen on the move.
Milan will pay €30m to sign Chukwueze after Villarreal agreed to lower their asking price.
The 24-year-old has one year remaining on his contract with the Yellow Submarine.
He was named Best African player in LaLiga last season.
