Chelsea and Barcelona are nearing an agreement for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who has already agreed on personal terms for the proposed move.
Aubameyang gave the go-ahead after deliberating whether to leave the Camp Nou less than a year after joining Barcelona from Arsenal.
The former Arsenal captain left on the final day of the January transfer window. But, with Robert Lewandowski signed this summer and the club needing the money to resolve other ongoing issues, the Gabonese international has been told he can leave.
Aubameyang emerged as Chelsea’s top striker target earlier this summer, and the deal is now nearing completion, with the 33-year-old preparing for a medical.
Chelsea would ideally like the deal completed by midday on Friday so that he can play against Leicester on Saturday, but that may not happen, according to sources.
In any case, Aubameyang appears to have played his final game for Barcelona on Wednesday night, scoring in a 3-3 charity friendly against Manchester City.
