Chelsea’s pursuit of Wesley Fofana has received a boost amid plans for a fourth bid, with Leicester identifying a replacement.

According to reports, Chelsea is about to make a fourth bid for Leicester City center-back Wesley Fofana.

Chelsea recently had a £70 million bid turned down by their Premier League rivals. It was their third attempt this summer to sign the 21-year-old defender.

Some speculated that Chelsea would then abandon their pursuit of the Leicester star, but it appears that they are still interested.

According to the Daily Telegraph, Chelsea are planning a new approach for Fofana, who will miss Saturday’s game between the two clubs.

It will be an increase over the £70 million valuation, which could bring it closer to the fee sought by Leicester.

The Telegraph has also named Leicester’s preferred replacement, indicating that the Foxes are bracing themselves for the departure of the former Saint-Etienne talent.

According to reports, Brendan Rodgers’ side is interested in Borussia Dortmund centre-half Manuel Akanji.
