Tobi Amusan wins third consecutive Diamond League trophy

Tobi Amusan on Sunday, finished in first place in the women’s 100m hurdles at the Diamond League in Eugene, Oregon, US.

Amusan braced the tape in 12.33 seconds to claim her third consecutive Diamond League title.

Jasmine Camacho-Quin finished second in 12.38s, while Kendra Harrison came third.

Amusan’s 2023 season has been hampered by controversy.

During the lead-up to the 2023 World Athletics Championships, she was provisionally suspended by the Athletics Integrity Unity (AIU) for allegedly “missing three tests in 12 months”.

Her participation in the world championship was in jeopardy until she was cleared of the charge three days before the competition.

Amusan failed to defend her world title in Budapest after she finished sixth in the final at the National Athletics Centre in Budapest, Hungary.

Following the disappointing title defence, the 27-year-old spoke about her time on the sidelines and how her situation “could have been worse”.

The athlete promised to come back “stronger and better”.
