Legendary Manchester United manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, is furious that executive vice-chairman, Ed Woodward, left manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to answer questions about the club’s plan to join the European Super League, after taking the decision to do so behind the Norwegian’s back.
At least 12 clubs including the Premier League’s Big Six signed up for the breakaway competition.
Solskjaer was informed by Woodward of United’s decision after 3pm on Sunday, less than an hour before the 3-1 win against Burnley.
The Norwegian cut short a conversation about the plans, according to the Athletic, as he wanted to focus on the game against the Clarets.
It meant Solskjaer knew little about the proposal when he was pressed by reporters after the win.
United withdrew their application less than 48 hours after they revealed their plan to join the league and Woodward has since confirmed he will step down from the club at the end of the year.
