Super Falcons fall to USA in friendly game

On Saturday night, the United States of America defeated the Super Falcons of Nigeria, the former African champions, 4-0.

The Super Falcons have now gone seven games without a win against the United States.

In every game, the West Africans have also gone scoreless.

In just 13 minutes, Sofia Smith gave the US the lead. Minutes later, Lindsey Horan added the second goal.

Smith scored the third late in the first half as the home team kept applying pressure.

In the 52nd minute, the US was given a penalty, which Alex Morgan calmly converted. The second friendly between the two teams will take place at Audi Field on Tuesday.

In a related development, Nigeria failed to qualify for next year’s Championship of African Nations (CHAN) next year in Ivory Coast, after losing out to Ghana.

The CHAN Eagles lost on penalties to the Black Galaxies this evening at the MKO Abiola Stadium after winning 2-0 win at regulation time.

Zulkifilu Muhammed gave Nigeria the lead in the 76th minute.

With time running out, Chuks Akuneto netted the second goal for the hosts in the last minute of added time.
