Super Eagles star Jamilu Collins completes move to Cardiff City
Cardiff City, a Sky Bet Championship team, has confirmed the signing of Nigerian defender Jamilu Collins on a two-year deal.
Collins joined the Bluebirds on a free transfer after parting ways with Bundesliga 2 club SC Paderborn.
The 27-year-old played with Paderborn for five years, scoring two goals in 137 games.
Following the additions of winger Ollie Tanner, goalkeeper Jak Alnwick, and midfielder Ebou Adams, the left-back is Cardiff City’s fourth acquisition.
“I’m really excited to be in Cardiff, and I can’t wait to get started,” Collins told the club’s official website after penning his contract.
“The Club has a great history, and when I got the call to come to Cardiff, I was so excited, I couldn’t resist. I’m looking forward to the challenge of the new season.
“The goal is to fight for the Premier League. I can’t wait to meet the supporters and to fight for the jersey.”
Before moving to Germany, the skilled defender played for various Croatian clubs.
HNK Rijeka, NK Pomorac, HNK Ibenik, and Istra 1961 are among the clubs.
Collins was a member of the Super Eagles side that finished third in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
