Southgate says English FA tried to lure Haaland to play for England instead of Norway

England boss, Gareth Southgate, has confirmed that the English FA wanted to lure Erling Haaland to represent the Three Lions. 

Haaland was born in Leeds and qualified to represent England 

But Haaland had eyes on playing for Norway and Southgate has admitted that England looked into Haaland, 

“We were looking at Haaland and wishing that he might have been available as well,” he said at press conference ahead of their friendly against Scotland 

“But we’ve got a pretty good number nine (Harry Kane) and we’re very happy with him.”
