After Manchester City won the Premier League, fans attacked Aston Villa goalkeeper Robin Olsen, continuing a recent disgusting trend in English football.
On Sunday, Villa were on the receiving end of City’s dramatic comeback, almost losing the title on the final day of the season.
Liverpool fans would have thought their dream scenario was coming true when Steven Gerrard’s team took a 2-0 lead in the 69th minute through Philippe Coutinho.
Pep Guardiola’s team turned things around with a brace from substitute Ilkay Gundogan and another goal from Rodri to win their fourth league title in five years.
With the day’s emotions and tension running high, it’s no surprise that fans ran onto the pitch at full time. Unfortunately, the scenes were marred by Olsen being attacked by several fans.
Watch below:
After the game, Gerrard was asked if all of his players had made it off the pitch unscathed, a rather depressing state of affairs.
The Villa manager responded by saying, “No, no is the answer to that. My goalkeeper was attacked, so I think those questions should go to Pep Guardiola and Manchester City.”
