Tennis superstar, Serena William, has seen her hopes of a victorious return to Wimbledon after a year out dashed after she was defeated by Harmony Tan.
The 40-year-old mother of one returned to the same court where she had limped off a year ago to suffer the defeat.
The game which had a passionate display ended 7-5 1-6 7-6 (10-7) to give Tan the day.
Serena had put up a good display despite questions about her form but saw Tan make a comeback to win the match.
She’s now left with a question to answer as fans wonder if the game signified her last Wimbledon.
The burning question now is surely ‘was this her last Wimbledon’?
“That’s a question I can’t answer,” she told a news conference. “I don’t know.
“Who knows? Who knows where I’ll pop up.”
Speaking, Tan said the win was amazing as Serena was one of those she used to watch on TV when she was young.
“For my first Wimbledon it’s wow – just wow,” said world number 115 Tan.
“It’s a dream because, you know, I saw Serena on the TV when I was young. She’s a legend. When you play her, I was scared. I mean, I was scared when I was on the court, but really happy to be there.”
