Fisayo Dele-Bashiru is one of the latest players to receive a first call up to the Nigeria’s senior men’s national team.
Dele-Bashiru has been in fine form for Turkish Super Lig club, Hatyspor this season, with four goals and two assists to his name.
The 22-year-old’s overall performance, not just his four goals and assists, has earned him the call up to the senior team.
Some Nigerians are of the opinion that Dele-Bashiru, who began his career at Manchester City youth team, might just solve the Super Eagles’ creative midfield problem.
“Might just be the creative midfielder our squad needs. We’ve got enough box-to-box and defensive midfielders, but Iwobi and Aribo are our only CAMs,” a Super Eagles fan wrote on X.
However, another fan felt the Germany born midfielder should not have been invited, saying, “Nonsense, there are better players at home with their destiny killed by corruption.”
