Saliba agrees new four-year Arsenal contract
Arsenal defender, William Saliba, has a new four-year contract in principle with the club, according to The Athletic.
His existing deal was due to end in 2024.
But Saliba is now set to add another three years onto his stay in north London.
Arsenal are now formalising paperwork ahead of an official announcement of his extended stay.
A full house is what Arsenal might use as the terminology to describe a perfect contractual masterclass ahead of the 2023/24 season. Going into the previous campaign, there were fears that many of the club’s best stars were nearing the end of their deals, threatening to undermine a Gunners side on the up.
However, manager Mikel Arteta, sporting director Edu Gaspar and head of football operations Richard Garlick have worked extremely hard along with plenty of others in their team to come close to pulling off one of the most impressive contractual renewal plans in any Premier League club’s history.
No longer the top dogs, Arsenal have seen their best talents pillaged from the club in the past. Players like Alexis Sanchez ran down their deals and escaped to Premier League rivals Manchester United; bringing back painful memories of the summer of 2012 when Robin van Persie did the same thing.
