Queen Elizabeth II dies: Full list of sports, fixtures postponed

Following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, a national period of mourning is expected to be declared.

Sports are anticipated to take a break during that time, just as some businesses and services are likely to suspend operations.

After the confirmation of the news of the Queen’s passing, some organizations, contests, and media outlets suspended social media activity as a sign of respect after posting condolence messages. After entering the field for the second half of their UEFA Europa League match in Switzerland, FC Zurich and Arsenal players stood for a moment of silence around the center circle.

The Premier League issued a simple statement following the news from Buckingham Palace:

“The Premier League is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Her Majesty The Queen, Elizabeth II. Our thoughts and condolences are with The Royal Family and everyone around the world mourning the loss of Her Majesty.”

The league did not provide any additional information about upcoming games, but it is expected that the schedule for the next two weeks will be disrupted.

It is anticipated that non-league competitions and the rest of England’s Football League will operate similarly to the Premier League. The SPFL in Scotland, as well as events in Wales and Northern Ireland, might follow suit.

Here is a list of sports, and fixtures postponed so far..
