PSG sack Pochettino with Galtier set to be appointed

Mauricio Pochettino’s tenure as head coach at Paris Saint-Germain has come to an end, the club announced on Tuesday, a day before it is widely anticipated that Christophe Galtier will take over for the Argentine.

“Paris Saint-Germain confirm that Mauricio Pochettino has ended his role at the club,” said a club statement as the former Tottenham Hotspur coach leaves the Parc des Princes after 18 months in charge.

The former Tottenham and Southampton manager Pochettino left the team despite leading PSG to the French championship with a 15-point victory margin, the largest margin of victory for a champion team in the top five leagues.

But in the end, it was PSG’s most recent loss in the Champions League—the matchup the Qatari owners so desperately want—that cost him his job.

It is expected that Christophe Galtier will be named as his successor, which will bring the former Lille manager back together with Luis Campos, who has taken over for Leonardo.
