Gabriel Jesus scored 90 seconds into his debut for Arsenal, and his two goals helped the Gunners defeat FC Nurnberg in the German second division 5-3.
The Brazilian striker, who earlier this summer completed a £45 million transfer from Manchester City, entered the game in Germany at halftime with the Gunners behind 2-0. He had an instant impact, scoring high in the net after a ball from Ainsley Maitland-Niles.
After Mikel Arteta’s team’s equalizer from Mohammed Elneny, the Gunners went up 4-2 thanks to two own goals from Tim Handwerker and Christpher Schindler of Nurnberg.
With 15 minutes remaining, Jesus added a fifth goal for Arsenal by converting Gabriel Martinelli’s cross at the front post, immediately following Lukas Schleimer’s equalizing goal for the German team.
In a span of five first-half minutes, Johannes Geis and Kwadwo Duah both scored goals past new Arsenal goalkeeper Matt Turner to shock the Premier League team.
