Phil Foden is very close to finalising a lucrative new long-term contract with Manchester City, and an agreement is almost ready to be signed.
Despite the fact that Foden’s current contract only has two years left, his future at the Etihad Stadium has never really been in doubt.
Since last summer, the 22-year-old’s agent have been in talks with City about new and improved terms, and there is still hope that a deal will be completed soon.
The club would not confirm the exact length of the agreement, but 90min has learned that Foden’s new contract will last until at least 2027, with the England playmaker set to earn more than £200,000 per week.
In addition to having incentives that could result in increased pay, the multiple Premier League champion’s new contract will also increase Foden’s status within the team by making him one of Pep Guardiola’s highest-paid players.
Foden has made 169 appearances in all competitions since breaking into City’s starting lineup in 2018/19. He quickly established himself as one of Guardiola’s more versatile players, playing all over the forward line as well as in midfield last season.
