Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen’s value has risen to €65 million, according to the latest transfer market valuation of players in the Italian league.
It’s not surprising, given that the Napoli attacker scored 18 goals in 32 games for the club in a successful season.
In November of last year, the 23-year-old suffered a cheekbone injury during a Serie A match against Inter Milan. He was out for nearly eight weeks due to injury, but he still managed to score 14 goals in the league and assist The Blues in securing automatic Champions League qualification for next season. The other four goals came in the five Europa League matches he played for Partenopei before the injury.
For the 2021/22 season, the former U-17 star was named the U-23 Best Young Player in Serie A. The former Lille striker won the award after beating out Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic and Sassuolo’s Gianluca Scamacca.
Osimhen, who is in camp with the Eagles ahead of their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sierra Leone on Thursday, is also the 7th most valuable player in Italy, the 97th most valuable player in the world, and third most valuable player in Africa behind PSG’s Achraf Hakimi and Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.
The striker’s value increased by €5 million as a result of his performance in the recently concluded 2020/21 season, as he was only worth €60 million in December 2021, a value he had held for two months.
Osimhen’s current market value is the highest of his career, while his lowest was €1 million in 2017, when he was with Wolfsburg.
His transfer market value contradicts the most recent CIES Football Observatory Weekly Post compilation, which was released on Monday. Osimhen was valued at €51.0 million by CIES.
